Mazel Tov Sidney!

June 3, 2019

Laura Weinbaum, Brett Mandel, and Rose and Ariel Mandel Weinbaum invite the congregation to share in their joy when their son and brother, Sidney Weinbaum Mandel, is called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on June 15, 2019.

Sidney, a rising 8th grader at J.R. Masterman School, has been part of the BZBI congregation since birth. In addition to his academic work, Sidney plays trumpet in Masterman’s band and participates in the Odyssey of the Mind creativity competition. Outside of school, Sidney is an avid baseball and ice hockey player as well as an eager dog-walker and parent’s helper. As a Bar Mitzvah project, this year Sidney tutored younger Snider Hockey participants and helped them learn to skate. Sidney is a thoughtful young man who loves to draw and learn about history. He is an inquisitive spirit who raises intriguing questions about our world (almost always at bedtime). Sidney, his parents, and his extended family thank everyone who has inspired his appreciation of Jewish life — especially Rabbi Yosef, Rabbi Abe, Shayna Flink, and the BZBI Hebrew School staff, community, and classmates who have contributed to his  understanding of Jewish culture and religious life.
