Mazel Tov Isaiah & Jaiden!

April 23, 2018

Isaiah and Jaiden are in the 7th grade at The Haverford School.  They have been part of the BZBI community since birth and also attended the synagogue pre-school.  They play several sports including baseball, water polo and basketball.  They also love theater and perform in productions at MacGuffin Theater and Film Company as well as Haverford.

For their B’nai Mitzvah project, they worked to raise awareness and money for the Lone Soldier Center in Israel. Lone soldiers are soldiers serving in the IDF without family in Israel.  The Lone Soldier Center provides support for those soldiers including Shabbat meals, housing and advice.  The Lone Soldier Center is named in memory of Michael Levin who was an IDF soldier from this area who was killed in Lebanon.  Isaiah and Jaiden spent time at the Lone Soldier Center in Jerusalem, went to Michael Levin’s grave on Mt. Herzl and visited with Michael’s parents to learn more about Michael.

Recently, Isaiah and Jaiden organized an event for their Neziner Hebrew School classmates on the Lone Soldier Center.  They showed a movie about Michael Levin and also invited a former lone soldier, David Moed, to come from New York and speak to the students about his experience as a lone soldier.  This photo is of Isaiah, Jaiden and David Moed.  Isaiah and Jaiden have also set up a website to raise money for the Lone Soldier Center.

Isaiah, Jaiden, their sister Michaela and parents, Salem and Barbara, are excited to celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah on May 5.
