Giving at BZBI: L’Dor V’Dor

WHY IS BZBI PARTICIPATING IN THE LIFE & LEGACY PROGRAM?

BZBI is the heartbeat of Conservative Judaism in Center City Philadelphia.
BZBI has a deep and rich cultural legacy spanning three Philadelphia congregations, with roots tracing back to founding of the Conservative Judaism movement in the mid-1800s. BZBI’s vision is to create a vibrant space where Jews feel spiritually nurtured, connected across generations, intellectually stimulated, and can experience multiple core values of Jewish identity, from Avodah (worship) to Tzedakah (charity) to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).

As a community and institution, BZBI celebrates diversity. We are proudly committed to an open, egalitarian, and engaged membership. Here you can find spirited tefillah (prayer) and programming that both reflects and resonates with our diversity. We embrace the notion that a relevant and impactful synagogue is one that meets people where they are in their life journeys. We cherish how our members cultivate and share their Jewish identities, through both traditional and innovative interpretations of our traditions.

More than a synagogue, BZBI has been a leader and convener of Jewish life in Philadelphia for generations. Our strength derives from the daily interactions between our members. Whether it’s a “Guess Who’s Coming to Shabbas Dinner,” spontaneous meet-and-greets in Rittenhouse Square, or families connecting at school or camp events, BZBI-based relationships enrich our lives in fun and unexpected ways.  In Center City Philadelphia,  BZBI is much more than a building and synagogue.  We are a societal and cultural center for Jewish life, providing families a space to connect, learn and grow from our early childhood school through religious school, worship, community connections and programs, and lifelong learning. We seek to ensure BZBI’s position as the thriving center of Jewish life in Center City Philadelphia for generations to come.

Our legacy donors are individuals who are committed to the vision that a deep, enduring connection to Judaism must be both personal and communal, and that the best environment to foster such connections is one that is multi-generational, diverse, and welcoming. They value BZBI’s unique position to create this environment and understand that achieving our long-term vision requires long-term financial security. Legacy giving is an essential part of L’Dor V’Dor, passing Judaism from one generation to another.  As you reflect upon your cherished memories of BZBI, perhaps a special life-cycle event, or the uplifting melodies of RH2, please consider how you can ensure these moments and traditions are sustained for generations to come.
