BZBI, where you learn

On One Foot: A Introduction to Judaism for Everyone

Judaism is a world unto itself, encompassing rituals, ideas, and thousands of years of history. If you’ve been curious about Jewish learning but didn’t know where to start, this is the place for you! The American Jewish University’s On One Foot curriculum covers all of the essentials in an interactive format that encourages personal engagement. Join Rabbis Abe Friedman, Abi Weber, and many other community rabbis for a year-long adventure in Jewish learning.

This course is ideal for students seeking a basic orientation to fundamental Jewish concepts. The course workbooks are prepared individually for students, and are available through the Temple office. Each session is recorded, so that if you are unable to attend a class, you can view the recording to keep up.

Conversion Candidates and interested partners should register through the Goodblatt website.

This class is offered in cooperation with the Rabbi Morris Goodblatt Academy Introduction to Judaism Program sponsored by the Philadelphia Region of the Rabbinical Assembly, which represents Conservative Jewish rabbis in Greater Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. Students interested in conversion should schedule an appointment to meet with one of the BZBI rabbis.

Goodblatt Basic Prayer Book Hebrew

Learning to read and understand basic Hebrew opens a world of opportunities for worship. Would you like to be able to comfortably follow along in the prayer book? Are you planning to read Torah for the congregation someday? Do you simply want to be able to easily tell each letter on the dreidel apart? This is a class for those with no background in the language, even if you can’t tell alef from tof, and will provide a strong foundation for liturgical Hebrew. This class goes hand in hand with On One Foot, however – it is not being offered at BZBI this year. To sign up for basic prayer book hebrew, please visit the Goodblatt website.
