On Saturday, February 5, BZBI will host David Marcu, Senior CEO of Israel Elwyn for Disability Awareness Shabbat.
Israel Elwyn (IE) is an Israeli nonprofit that provides services and programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They see a society in which individuals with disabilities are citizens with equal rights; a society in which we all determine our own future and way of life.
Established in 1984, IE operates in collaboration with and supported by the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs; Ministry of Education; Ministry of Health; and local municipalities nationwide. They provide a wide range of innovative programs to more than 5,200 individuals with disabilities including toddlers, children, teenagers, young people, adults and seniors.
David Marcu is IE’s Senior Chief Executive Officer and holds an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Temple University, M.A. in Talmud and Rabbinics from The Jewish Theological Seminary, and B.A. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Since 1993, he has been CEO of Israel Elwyn and as of January, 2022, Senior CEO.
He has served as President of the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services, treasurer and board member of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies, board member of the Israel Council for Social Welfare and board member of the Israeli Civic Leadership Association. David was International President of USY in 1977-1978.
