June 2, 2022 meeting, 7:00 pm
- Development report from Suzanne Litke : Our 49/49/49 campaign was successful thanks to many congregants who responded to requests.
- Clergy Report from Rabbi Abe and Rabbi Abi : Rebecca Goldsmith cannot do HH this year, but Gedalia Penner-Robinson will join us as solo reader for HH. Minyans have not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. Regular services (Saturday, at least) have returned to pre-pandemic levels. We are thinking of going to once/month for Kabbalat Shabbat Friday night service, where dinner will also be served to help increase the attendance. The Fitler Square Friday night service has been relatively well attended, and we plan to keep that for the summer on a weekly basis.
Torah academy: We finished our first year with 7 graduates who have each signed up for more readings in addition to their first. The second year is now getting organized
- Governance Committee report by Jessica Simon : Jessica presented the new slate of officers for ‘22-‘23 year.
- Finance committee report from Daniel Cohen : We expect to finish the 2022 fiscal year with either a balanced budget or a slight surplus.
Kitchen renovations: We decided to borrow from ourselves, instead of a bank loan for the renovations, and pay ourselves back as new donations and pledges are realized. We currently have ~30-40% of what we need for these renovations.
Fiscal Year 2023:
We are expecting a deficit in 2023 budget, and have some ideas of how we can offset that, including raising the security fee, increasing our goal for Annual Giving, and perhaps creatively raising money from our HH ticket sales.
- ED Report Lynne Balaban: Lynne has been working with Daniel Cohen, working on next year’s budget, as well as dealing with all the contracts and permits, and planning for the staff for HH and the fall. She is working on a teen coordinating position (replacing Rachel Beck). Liat, our new community engagement hire, has been working behind scenes and reaching out to perspective members.
