Singing in Community

Chug Shirah B'Tzibur

September 18, 2017

On Wednesday evening, September 13, thirty singers filled the chapel for an evening of learning and singing rounds in Hebrew. Songsheets were provided for all. While most participants were BZBI members, some members of Leyv Ha’ir and center city members of Germantown Jewish Center also added their voices. For tuning up purposes, we started with several rounds which we have all been singing for many years (i.e. “Hineh Mah Tov Umah Na’im”) and then, in our last 45 minutes, we rose to the challenge of learning and singing 4 rounds, in 2 and 3 voices, which were new to many of us. The word is, it sounded pretty good! All in all, an interesting, challenging, and fun evening.

Look for announcements about session 2 of Chug Shirah B’Tzibur which will take place after the high holidays.  There is no need to have been at session 1, as rounds, new to most, will be taught along with review of what we learned in session one.

Join in for a fun evening of singing together in community!
