At BZBI, we celebrate Hanukkah through acts of service. This year, join us for one or all of these great ways to give back!


Serving Dinner at St. Mary’s Church

Sunday, December 2. 7:30 PM at St. Mary’s Church (1831 Bainbridge).

Join BZBI in giving the gift of your time during Hanukkah. We will be serving a dinner to the group of men who shelter at St. Mary’s Church, a Bethesda Project shelter. Sign up to help here!

Learn to Play Mah Jong

Tuesday, December 4. 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Bring $4 for Tikkun Olam.

Are you interested in Mah Jong but do not know where to begin? Would you just like to get to know more people in the city while having fun? Join us during Hanukkah for a special Mah Jong day especially for new players! Our seasoned Mah Jong players will guide you through the game. Bring $4 to play–all the money raised goes to BZBI’s Tikkun Olam efforts!

Bake for the Gift of Life House

Sunday, December 9. Drop from 9:00 AM-10:30 AM.

Join BZBI in giving the gift of your time during Hanukkah. We are asking people to bring a baked good to morning minyan. These items will be delivered the following day to the Gift of Life Family House. Sign up online here!

Collection Drives

Book Drive for the Stephen Girard Elementary School

Please bring new or gently used chapter books, picture books, non-fiction books, etc, for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. This project is done in partnership with BZBI’s Library Ladies, who help the children at Stephen Girard Elementary learn to read. Contact Rosalie for more information about that wonderful program!

I Support the Girls: Bra & Feminine Hygiene Product Drive

Please consider donating tampons and pads, socks, toiletries, new and gently used bras, etc. to support homeless, at-risk, or financially insecure women. These items will be distributed by I Support the Girls.
