Repairing Torah Scrolls

This week we had a sofer come to BZBI to repair two Torah scrolls that were in need of a little attention. We want to thank everyone who joined our March Madness bracket, came to our Bingo Night, and participated in our 613 Campaign. The money raised with these initiatives was enough to help repair siddurim, chumashim, and the two Torah scrolls. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Torah restoration is a detailed process utilizing traditional techniques to repair the parchment scrolls, on which the text is handwritten in quill with specially prepared ink. Soferim study at length to master this art and are able to accomplish it with precision. We had the honor of watching this in person and we wanted to share the beauty with the whole BZBI community.
