September 4, 2019

Simone Raquel Levy lives in Rittenhouse Square and attends AIM Academy in Conshohocken, where she is an honor roll student.  She has just begun 8th grade. Simone loves figure skating and is a  member of the Philadelphia Skating Club and Humane Society in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.  She has  been a competitive figure skater since age 4. She has been a gold medalist at many local and regional competitions in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Simone has focused on solo routines as well as dramatic showcases and Ice Dance. One of her favorite choreographed routines was from Fiddler on the Roof where she performed Matchmaker, Matchmaker. She finished first in the New York Showcase Competition and Princeton Competition with this routine. She also has been a member and performer at the Philadelphia Dance Academy and has been in their yearly Nutcracker show and other selected performances. One of Simone’s favorite places is overnight camp in Maine at Camp Laurel where she has developed many lifelong friendships.

Simone is an effervescent, and intelligent and funny person who has developed a great sense of self and has the strength to fight for others and give her opinions regardless what others around her think.  She is dedicated to giving back to the community. She not only has been a mentor and role model for her younger sister Kira, but she has also been an advocate for individuals with special needs. For her Mitzvah project, Simone has been giving back to the community and raising awareness for the special Olympics by taking on a student that she privately tutors and teaches the art of figure skating. Simone has not only shared in this person’s achievements but has grown and learned a better sense of herself. You can find out more about the special Olympics here!
