LEADING UP TO HANUKKAH

Latke and Hanukkah Candle Pickup
Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Youth and Family Hanukkah fundraiser! If you ordered latkes and/or candles through the fundraiser, please pick up your latkes and/or candles in the Kahaner Auditorium during any of the following pickup windows: 


-Tomorrow, Friday, December 16, from 12:00 – 3:00 PM

-Saturday, December 17, during kiddush between approximately 12:15 – 12:45 PM (following Shabbat morning services)

-Sunday December 18, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (during our chanukiah making event)

Sisterhood Gift Shop Hanukkah Shopping 
NOW THROUGH WEDNESDAY, December 14
Special Hanukkah gifts, Judaica, jewelry, toys and more are available at the gift shop, with shopping by appointment only. Call the Temple office at 215-735-5148 to schedule time.

Blood Drive with BZBI 
Wednesday, December 14 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Join BZBI on Wednesday, December 14 at Tenth Presbyterian Church, (1701 Delancey Street, Philadelphia PA 19103) to donate blood for the Red Cross. The blood drive will run from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Click here to schedule your appointment

Card Making for the Jewish Relief Agency
Sunday, December 18 (an at home project)

Create handmade cards for the Jewish Relief Agency to send out with their food packages.

Feel free to use supplies that you have at home like construction paper, crayons, markers, paint, stickers, etc. Free online coloring pages are also a great resource if you don’t know where to start! Click here for card making guidelines. When your cards are finished, drop them off at the Temple Office. 

Feminine hygiene products collection bin: Drop off products at BZBI to be donated to Mercy Hospice
From December 18 – 25

Consider donating feminine hygiene products such as tampons, pads, and wipes to BZBI’s collection bin in the Temple Office. Help those at Mercy Hospice provide these items for those who can’t otherwise get them.

Baking for the Gift of Life Family House
Monday, December 19 (an at home project)

Bake a dozen of an item of your choice to be donated (cupcakes, cookies etc) to brighten someone’s day for the Gift of Life Family House. Drop off baked goods to 4th and Callowhill on Monday, December 19. To sign up to bake, click here. 

“Sock It To Em” Drive for the Bethesda Project and Project Home
From now until December 22

We are looking for gently used or new socks and men’s t-shirts for the Bethesda Project and Project Home. Drop off donations in the lobby of the Temple. If you order new items through Amazon Smile BZBI will receive a donation; ship to Eileen Dwell & Charles Steinberg,1919 Chestnut St. Apt 2201, Philadelphia, PA 19103. 

Various items that can be ordered for this drive through Amazon Smile are hats, socks, and hand warmers.

Kitchen Cred: Youth Emergency Services Dinner 
Friday, December 23 and Saturday, December 24 (an at home project)

In the spirit of Hanukkah, Kitchen Cred invites BZBI congregants to brighten the holidays for teens residing at the Youth Emergency Services shelter.  For eleven years, the educational nonprofit founded by BZBI member, Doug Barg, has prepared Christmas Eve dinner with and for teens at the shelter on Fairmount Avenue.  Please sign up to cook one of three dishes:  chicken wings, sauteed greens or red velvet cupcakes (8 – 10 servings) or to pick up the prepared foods and deliver them to Y.E.S.    Click here to sign up to cook or drop off an item.
