WhyDoWe Post-Kiddush Congregational Learning Program

March 9 2024, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Jewish practice is diverse. We differ in how and why we do things and what meaning we get out of them. At our new monthly WhyDoWe program after Kiddush on Shabbat you can join other curious congregants to deepen your appreciation of the diversity of Jewish practice—and get to know each other better by sharing how and why we do things the way we do.

Three sessions have been scheduled for February 10, March 9, and April 13. Each month’s session will have a theme and a discussion moderator, and sometimes a local maven on the topic.

February 10: Keeping Kosher. What’s “strictly” kosher? What is “glatt” kosher? Is it a house that’s kept kosher or a person? Why did I start/stop keeping kosher? What rule would I most like to bend?

Your suggestions for future session themes are welcome. If there are topics you’ve always wondered about or if you’re a maven on some aspect of Jewish life, contact Davida Charney.
