Online Discussion Series: Confronting Racism as Jews

May 27 2020, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, and Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel, Rabbi Batya Glazer will facilitate a series of webinars featuring discussions on racism. The JCRC and BZBI previously collaborated – along with the ADL, AJC, and the Kaiserman JCC – on the Philadelphia Civil Rights Mission to Georgia and Alabama.

Rabbi Glazer, Director of the Philadelphia JCRC, will provide a forum to engage around issues of racism as members of the Jewish community. With memories of the Philadelphia Civil Rights Mission still fresh, we invite discussion participants to delve deeply into issues of racism in the United States, and how our identities as Jews are an influence on our views and understandings.

Dates and Topics

  • May 13 – Anti-Semitism and Racism
  • May 20 – Relationship between the Black and Jewish Communities
  • May 27 – Racism within the Jewish Community
  • June 3 – A Discussion with Chad Lassiter, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission

Note that this class will start one week later than originally announced, on Tuesday, May 13.  It will end after four weeks, on June 3.

The four-week series of facilitated discussions requires advance registration, which is now closed.  If you want to join one or more future sessions, please send a note through our Contact Us form.
