Congregants Leading Classes

Matt Whitehorn Teaching at Limmud Philly

November 15, 2017

We’re so lucky to have a community of scholars at BZBI. From our regular students at the Rabbis’ many classes, to the excellent Q&As we enjoy at our SICHA lectures, to classes led by congregants, BZBI’ers never stop learning. That’s why we’re so happy to be exporting that talent at Limmud Philly this year. Matt Whitehorn, of infinite Jewish-sports knowledge, is teaching a class about that very topic. Please swing by for a chance to study with Matt and other members of the Philadelphia Jewish Community. Knowledge is meant to be shared!

“History of Jews in Baseball and a Bit of Basketball and Israeli Sports Too”

This session will present an overview of the history Jews in baseball and basketball with some discussion of Israeli sports. The session will be interactive and will discuss such topics as  Jewish players hitting home runs for both teams in the same World Series game for the first time this year (Joc Pederson [Dodgers] & Alex Bregman [Astros]) and the success of Israel’s team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Limmud Philly is held on Sunday, December 3,  from 11:00AM-6:00 PM at the Moore College of Art and Design (20th and Parkway). Tickets are 10% off with the code ISRAEL70. Register and learn more here.
