BZBI Introduces Monthly Pop-Up Collections!

February 17, 2016

Get ready to give to those in need!  In the spirit of Tikkun Olam and after much success with our Hanukkah #Servefor8 programs, BZBI will begin monthly Pop-Up Collections. We will begin in February with a collection of Diapers and Baby Wipes to be donated to The Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank.

Why Diapers? The Philadelphia Diaper Bank explains how challenging purchasing diapers can be for many. Here are the FACTS:

•Diapers average a cost of $100 a month for 8 to 10 diapers a day.

•Parents in distressed circumstances have to make difficult choices between purchasing diapers, paying bills, or buying groceries.

•Daycare facilities often require that parents provide disposable diapers to meet the needs of their children.

•Cloth diapers require access to laundry facilities. Most laundromats don’t allow patrons to use machines to wash diapers.

•Medicare covers disposable incontinence supplies for those in hospice only.

We hope the whole community will participate. You can drop your donation off from Sunday 2/21 through Thursday 2/25 in the BZBI Sanctuary.

Would you like to help?  Volunteers will be needed each month to help with the delivery of collected items.  Most deliveries will be local. Please contact Alyssa Bailkin for more information.
