    Sharim V’Sharot Spring Concert
    Sunday, May 19 at 3:00 PM at Society Hill Synagogue
    Society Hill Synagogue is proud to sponsor and host the Spring Choral Concert of Sharim v’Sharot (People of Song). Sharim v’Sharot is a select Jewish choir that performs a wide range of Jewish music under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Elayne Robinson Grossman, the choir’s founder, Conductor, and Music Director. In its 24th year, Sharim v’Sharot’s members come from central and southern New Jersey and the Delaware Valley. Sharim v’Sharot sings Jewish music of many eras, locations, and languages, including Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, French, Italian, and English. They perform both Ashkenazic and Sephardic folk music. Their repertoire spans a wide variety of musical eras, from medieval times to the present, from Italian Renaissance works of Salamone Rossi to 21st century Israeli and American classical works, showtunes from the Yiddish theatre, and modern popular styles.     Join Nashirah, the Jewish Chorale of Greater Philadelphia, & Bucks County Choral Society for concerts – May 19 at 5:00 PM & June 2 at 4:00 PM 
    In our turbulent world, gathering in Jewish community is more important than ever. Nashirah, the Jewish Chorale of Greater Philadelphia, will join with the Bucks County Choral Society to perform the preeminent concert setting of the Jewish liturgy – Ernest Bloch’s dramatic Avodath Hakodesh. The program will also include the premiere of a new work by Cantor Natasha J. Hirschhorn, “Blessing of Peace,” and Thomas Lloyd’s recent setting of Psalm 46, “River of Gladness.” Feat. soloist Cantor Benjamin Warschawski:

    About the choirs: Nashirah enters its twentieth year as the only auditioned community-based chorale in the Greater Philadelphia area performing exclusively Jewish and Jewish-themed music. The 30-voice ensemble is conducted by Dr. Julia Zavadsky. (nashirah.org) // Founded in 1973 in Doylestown, BCCS is a 100-voice auditioned choir performing classic and contemporary masterworks, African-American spirituals, and outreach concerts for seniors and young singers.     Finding Common Ground Through Music: A Special Evening of Chamber Music by Polyphony

    Nazareth-based nonprofit Polyphony Education aims to bridge the divide between Arab and Jewish communities in Israel through excellence in western classical music education and performance, and foster a vibrant shared Israeli society based on mutual respect and partnership. Particularly during such polarizing times, music and the arts can bring diverse musicians, audiences, and communities together, inspiring empathy, communication and hope. Join Polyphony’s co-founder and executive director, Nabeel Abboud Ashkar, for an intimate conversation and Q&A after the concert.

    Diller Teen Fellows Applications are open for the 2024-2025 Cohort Year
    Each year, an exceptional group of Jewish 10th and 11th graders is selected to participate in the shared experience of Diller Teen Fellows, a program designed to cultivate and connect an emerging generation of leaders in 32 communities around the world. The program is a commitment for the entire Fellowship year and includes a partnership model, which pairs each Diller community outside of Israel with a community in Israel. Most programming takes place in your local community and culminates with a three-week seminar in Israel in July for all Fellows.
