Gratitude to the BZBI Community from Jose

March 19, 2018

In early January, we sent an email to the congregation about Hurricane Maria and supporting a community member affected by it. Jose, a man who regularly does work on our synagogue’s building, comes from Puerto Rico and his family has experienced many issues because of the hurricane. We reached out to the BZBI community asking for help support him. We were touched by the generous support and Jose sent a thank you letter we’d like to share with you.

I want to thank all of the congregation for donating money to help Puerto Rican families affected by Hurricane Maria. I have been so overwhelmed with the kindness, support, and generosity that the congregation extended out to me and my family. My aunt suffered a terrible fall and ended up a quadriplegic. She continues to struggle with her recovery. I had family from Puerto Rico staying with me during this crisis. They have since returned to Puerto Rico. They continue still to live without power. I used the funds to purchase generators, tools, and plane tickets. I want to thank you again for your generosity and will continue to help Puerto Rican families in need.

Sincerely,

Jose L.
