Tu B’Shevat
Tu B’Shevat, or the 15th of the Hebrew month of Shevat, celebrates the new year of the trees.
Yom HaShoah
Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorates the six million Jews who perished due to the actions of Nazi Germany.
Yom Ha’atzmaut
Yom Ha’atzmaut, or Israeli Independence Day commemorates the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948.
Lag B’Omer
Lag B’Omer occurs on the 33rd day of the Omer, or the seven week period between Passover and Shavuot. As a break from the somberness of this period, we celebrate Lag B’Omer with bonfires.
Summer Fasts
The Seventeenth of Tammuz and Tisha B’Av commemorate the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem before the destruction of the Second Temple and the destruction of both Temples, respectively. On these fast days, we also remember other calamities that have occurred to the Jewish people.
