Mazel Tov to Jacob!
Jon Smollen and Leah Kaplan welcome family, friends and the BZBI community to join in celebrating the Bar Mitzvah of their son Jacob Smollen, big brother to Livia and Ben. Jacob started at BZBI as a pre-schooler. He is a 7th grader at Masterman Middle School. He is a self-described “sports guy” with dual loyalties to Boston and Philly teams. He loves to play football, baseball and most of all, basketball. Combining his interests in history and writing, for his Bar Mitzvah project, Jacob interviewed a Holocaust liberator and survivor, transcribing their experiences, so he can share their stories with others. We thank Rabbi Abe, Rabbi Yosef, Cantor Grainer and Cindy Citron and the Hebrew School staff for helping Jacob reach this day.
