BZBI, where you engage

The Library Program at Stephen Girard Elementary

The BZBI Community is working with Stephen Girard Elementary School (1800 Snyder Ave.) to teach reading skills to the children and improve their library collection.

Every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:45 AM to about 12:30 PM, a group of volunteers goes to the school to meet with fourth graders and read stories to them and connect to them through song, music, and fun. This group has been forming strong positive relationships with this wonderful group of students throughout the year.

We are hoping to expand our volunteer base so that we can begin to teach the third graders as well. If you can volunteer regularly, or even just substitute occasionally, please reach out to Rosalie, who will be happy to give you information or training in advance, if you’d like.

We are also working with the Youth & Family program to collect secular new and used books in good shape to grow the library’s collection.
