BZBI is excited to be participating again this year in the Mitzvah Food Pantry’s High Holy Days Food Drive. The High Holiday Food Drive is the Mitzvah Food Project’s – and the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community’s – largest food drive of the year! We need your help collecting nutritious and kosher non-perishable proteins (e.g., nut butters, canned fish, canned beans, etc.) for those in our community who are in need.

At Rosh Hashanah services this year, BZBI members will receive an empty bag and list of acceptable food items.  We ask every member to return their bag, filled, on Yom Kippur. We look forward to everyone’s participation.

Be a part of our volunteer team! Volunteers are needed to help with the following:

  • Be or help secure a member with a large vehicle to park outside the synagogue on Yom Kippur to contain our collected items (and also someone able to drive the vehicle to warehouse site after the holiday).
  • Help distribute empty bags and flyers on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
  • Help organize volunteers to oversee the collection in blocks of 30 minutes on Yom Kippur.

This year we will be collecting only canned Kosher protein items:
