Serving a Gift of Life House Brunch

August 5 2018, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join BZBI in supporting the Gift of Life House. We will serving brunch to patients and their families on August 5. We will be bringing food, either homemade or store-bought, or ingredients to prepare onsite. You can show up as early as 8:00 AM to cook. Brunch begins at 10:00 AM.

Sign up and let us know what you plan to bring here.

Please see the below guide lines from Gift of Life House:TIME: We ask that brunch is served buffet style at 10:00 AM, so feel free to come in as early as 8:00 AM to begin preparing your meal.

  • PARKING: We have a free, gated parking lot here at the Family House. Once you pull into our front gate (located on Callowhill Street) you can feel free to park anywhere you would like.
  • GROUP SIZE/AGES: We ask that the groups be a maximum of about 10 people. For every 3 children under the age of 18 we ask that there is one adult chaperone to make sure that the kitchen remains a safe and productive area.
  • KITCHEN EQUIPMENT: We have 4 fully-equipped kitchen stations complete with ovens, stoves, microwaves and sinks that you can feel free to use. We also have all of the plates, platters, utensils, etc. that you will need for your meal, so you are only required to bring the ingredients for your meal. We ask that if you have any equipment ‘special requests’ such as a food processor, etc. that you bring the item with you just to be sure that you can prepare your meal properly.
  • CLEAN UP: We leave the food out for a little bit so that families can reheat and help themselves to your meal before one of our staff members packs up the leftovers, so after brunch is served, you are only responsible for cleaning up the kitchen areas and equipment that you use.
  • DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: While we do have guests staying at the Family House who have certain allergies and dietary restrictions, we do not require our Home Cook Heroes groups to cater to any specific needs. We do ask that you fill out the Meal Ingredient Form correctly and thoroughly with all of the ingredients for each dish you are preparing. Our guests know that it is their responsibility to check with us to see if there are any dishes they should avoid eating.
  • ILLNESS: Many guests at the Family House have weakened immune systems as a result of their treatment and medication. Exposure to communicable disease represents a more serious danger to those individuals. As a result, we ask that any members of your group who display signs of illness do not participate in cooking or visit the Family House. Examples include signs of infection, flu-like symptoms, rashes, cough, or GI issues.
