This summer marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Six Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem, a week that reshaped the Middle East and whose ramifications continue to unfold in today’s headlines. To mark and reflect upon this milestone, BZBI will be holding a Pop-Up Book Club, three discussions focused on three important books about the Six Day War.
For our third meeting on Saturday, May 20 after Kiddush, we will review Gershom Gorenberg, The Accidental Empire: Israel and the Birth of the Settlements, 1967-1977. An honest and insightful account of the history of the settler movement, The Accidental Empire provides a framework for understanding the current debate.
