BZBI-Wide Book Club: Kaddish.com

December 21 2020, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Our next read will be Kaddish.com by Nathan Englander and Rabbi Mort Levine will lead the discussion.

When his father dies, it falls to Larry—the secular son in a family of Orthodox Brooklyn Jews—to recite Kaddish. But Larry refuses, imperiling the fate of his father’s soul. To appease his sister, he hires a stranger to say the prayer instead—a decision that will have profound, and very personal, repercussions.

Nathan Englander is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a PEN/Malamud Award, the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, and the Sue Kaufman Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He has written For the Relief of Unbearable Urges, an international best seller, and What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank among other books and plays.

The meeting requires pre-registration, and you can sign up here.
