Gregory Jackson Memorial Service

Gregory Jackson Memorial Service

February 21 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Join us for a service commemorating the life of our beloved Gregory Jackson, who passed away of January 23 of this year.

Gregory was an ever-present face in our synagogue for more than twenty-five years. He sang on our bimah, he greeted and fed our children, he remembered everyone in our congregation by name. He taught some of our boys to tie their first necktie, he knew just the right type of shoe to go with any bat mitvzah dress, and his skills in the kitchen were unsurpassed. Gregory had an impeccable sense of taste and style that he brought to life and shared with us every day. More important, he was part of our family. Our joys were his joys, our sorrows his sorrows. And with his loss, we now share sorrow much greater than these words can possibly convey.

Gregory’s sense of devotion to BZBI shone through in all he did. He was a deeply spiritual man. Gregory seemed to know just what each person needed, to have a spiritual experience in the synagogue they loved – in the synagogue he loved. At this service, our congregation will gather together to honor this dedication to creating a welcoming and beautiful synagogue community.

This date was chosen to mark the end of shloshim, Judaism’s traditional thirty day period of intense mourning. This service will be appropriate for children as well as adults, and the 6:00 PM start time allows for our Hebrew School children to stay for the service, accompanied by parents. We will be offering a light meal for the children during Hebrew School that day.
