Gimel Kabbalat Siddur

Gimel Kabbalat Siddur

February 23 2019, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Celebrate with us as the children of our Gimel class (3rd grade) receive their first Siddurim in the presence of their fellow Neziner students, their families, and the entire community. They will start the morning by leading their peers in a special Junior Congregation service that will include words from the parent(s) of each child.

After Junior Congregation, the children will all join the main service in the Goldberg Sanctuary, where the Gimel students will share a special presentation.  Rabbi Abe will address the children and present them each with a certificate and their own personal Siddur Sim Shalom. Towards the end of the service, the Gimel class will also lead the congregation in the concluding prayers of the service.

The literal meaning of Kabbalat Siddur is “Receiving the Siddur” – a Jewish prayer book. Traditionally known as “Consecration”, this is an old tradition that celebrates the milestone of marking what used to be the formal beginning of a child’s Jewish Educational Journey.

We hope you can join us for this special milestone in our children’s Jewish journey!
