BZBI Anti-Racism Reading Group: Caste

September 21 2020, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Through study and discussion, the BZBI anti-racism reading group explores how to be more sensitive to racism, how to challenge systems that perpetuate racism, and how to be better allies to our Black siblings and neighbors.

In the month of September, our reading group will be reading Caste  — the new book by Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson.  The book is an examination of the laws and practices that created a bipolar caste system in the U.S. — and how the Nazis borrowed from it.

The NY Times described the book as an “instant American classic.”    It’s an Oprah’s Book Club selection, and she sent copies to 500 CEOs and other leaders.  You can listen to the podcast of Isabel’s appearance on Fresh Air from earlier this month.

Join us Monday night, September 21 at 7:00 PM for this facilitated conversation; Register here.

You can participate in the BZBI Tikkun Olam Action Alert Group if you are interested in joining anti-racism events taking place in Center City, or responding to calls for volunteers to help support our neighbors. Join here.
