Anti-Racism Book Club Meeting: What the Truth Sounds Like

November 9 2020, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

The next book for our anti-Racism discussion group will be “What Truth Sounds Like: Robert F. Kennedy, James Baldwin, and Our Unfinished Conversation About Race in America” by Michael Eric Dyson.

In May 1963 Attorney General Robert Kennedy sought out James Baldwin to explain the rage that then to engulf black America. Baldwin brought along some friends, including playwright Lorraine Hansberry, psychologist Kenneth Clark, artists Harry Belafonte and Lena Horne, and activist Jerome Smith. RFK is said to have left that three-hour meeting transformed and he began to change national civil rights policy. Dyson starts from that once in a lifetime conversation to engage in a discussion of current politics and culture.

This meeting is scheduled to take place after the elections, and we will discuss the election results in the context of Dyson’s book.  Please join us by registering here.
