SUMMARY:Daily Evening Minyan (Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:Please join us online at BZBI’s daily evening service\, the only Conservative daily Minyan in Center City. In December\, we embarked on a three-month trial period for multi-access (in person + Zoom) weekday minyanim. We are deeply grateful to those BZBI members who made the effort to support this trial by coming in person as well as those who maintained their commitment to Zoom participation in weekday services. \nAfter a careful review of that experience by our Ritual Committee and rabbis\, it is clear that the COVID-19 pandemic remains a significant concern for many stalwart members of our daily minyan community. During the course of our three-month trial\, we were not able to consistently field a minyan in BZBI’s chapel\, and we have decided to pause in-person weekday minyanim for March and April in the hopes that\, a few months further on\, conditions will better allow for resuming minyan in person. The only exception will be the Monday evening minyan\, which will continue in a multi-access format. \nSpecifically\, services will continue with the minor schedule adjustments detailed below\, and there are no changes to Shabbat or Yom Tov service locations or times. Note that on Sundays and civic holidays\, morning minyan takes place at 9:00 AM. \n \n* – Rabbi Mort’s Torah study class continues without change at approximately 8:15 AM after the Monday minyan. \nYou can sign up for Zoom access here. \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email allowing you into all religious services\, including the daily minyan\, Monday Torah Study\, Kabbalat Shabbat\, and Shabbat morning and holiday services. You can download Siddur Sim Shalom\, used for the daily minyan or Shabbat services by going here. \nQuestions? Send a note through our Contact Us form. \n

SUMMARY:Zohar Study Group led by Rabbi David Greenstein
DESCRIPTION:Word by word\, line by line\, page by page\, we follow the Zohar\, the most precious book of Jewish mystical teachings\, as it leads us along its paths of primordial wisdom. By turns profound\, puzzling\, shocking and amusing\, the Zohar helps us\, through our study and our open discussions\, to taste of the Tree of Life. Our studies touch on such topics as the nature of God\, the relationship between God and the world\, the human soul\, the purpose of life\, Jewish traditions and their meanings\, sexuality and holiness\, good and evil\, caring for one’s self and caring for others. The Zohar text is the English authoritative translation by Daniel C. Matt\, The Pritzker Zohar\, published by Stanford University Press. We will start with Volume III\, Parashat Vayishlach (Zohar I:165b). The sessions are open to all. \nThis course will run every Monday throughout the academic year. The cost is $180 for BZBI members and $250 for community members. Click here to register. The zoom link will be sent upon registration. If cost is a barrier to your participation\, please contact Liat Kovnator. \nDavid Greenstein has served the Jewish community as cantor\, rabbi\, educator and program/institution builder. He holds a BA (Philosophy) and MA (Talmud) from Yeshiva University\, an MFA (Painting) from Queens College\, and a PhD (Medieval Jewish Thought and Rabbinics) from NYU. Ordained at the pluralistic seminary\, Academy for Jewish Religion\, he also served there as a faculty member and as Rabbi-in-Residence\, President and Rosh Ha-Yeshivah. A member of the Rabbinical Assembly\, he has taught Rabbinic Studies and Zohar in rabbinical seminaries in North America and Europe as well as at the Conservative Yeshiva\, Jerusalem\, and at Neve Schechter\, Tel Aviv. His writings have appeared in journals and books. His book\, Roads to Utopia: The Walking Stories of the Zohar\, was published by Stanford University Press (2014). He was the Daniel Jeremy Silver Fellow\, Center for Jewish Studies at Harvard University\, for the academic year 2018 – 2019. An award-winning painter and a teacher of art\, his work has been shown in the US\, France and Israel and can be viewed at – https://www.greensteindavid.com.

SUMMARY:Shabbhakti Yoga with Deb Glassman

Classes will take place on Saturday’s from 9:45 AM to 11:00 AM in the Kahaner Auditorium monthly. \nDeborah is a certified yoga teacher and practices and studies an alignment based flow style yoga. She tries to carry her practice of yoga off the mat into her daily life as a parent\, friend\, and urologist and is looking forward to exploring the spirituality of Shabbat through this non-traditional lens. \nRegistration is required for this class. The cost is $18 per session for BZBI members and $25 for community members. \nRegister now!\n \nParticipants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat if possible; mats at the synagogue are limited. \nThe class schedule for 2022-2023 is as follows: \nJanuary 7th \nFebruary 4th \nMarch 4th \nApril 22nd \nMay 6th \n*These classes are mask optional
