DESCRIPTION:Join BZBI in an alternative spiritual journey into the heart of Shabbat through yogic movement\, meditation\, and song with Dr. Deborah Glassman. Classes will take place on Saturday’s from 9:45 AM to 11:00 AM in the Kahaner Auditorium monthly. \nDeborah is a certified yoga teacher and practices and studies an alignment based flow style yoga. Her belief is that yoga is more than postures on a sticky mat and is a way to connect with your true self as a manifestation of the divine. She tries to carry her practice of yoga off the mat into her daily life as a parent\, friend\, and urologist and is looking forward to exploring the spirituality of Shabbat through this non-traditional lens. \nRegistration is required for this class\, with attendance limited to 16 participants so that social distancing can be maintained. Using code names\, fronts\, and safe houses to protect themselves and their work\, the accused had built an underground service for women seeking safe\, affordable\, illegal abortions. They called themselves “Jane.” Join us in person at BZBI as we watch the award-winning documentary The Janes and speak directly with one of the group’s founders\, Heather Booth (via Zoom). \nHeather Booth is an American civil rights activist\, feminist\, and political strategist who helped to found The Jane Collective. Boxed Passover Lunches will be offered and served at the synagogue from 12:30 to 2:00 pm on Monday\, April 10 and Tuesday\, April 11. The cost is $26.00 per lunch. DESCRIPTION:Join the sisterhood for a brunch and learning program with Gedalia Penner-Robinson that benefits the Torah Fund on Sunday\, April 16. A minimum 18$ donation will be required to attend. \nGedalia Penner-Robinson\, originally from Queens\, NY\, began his musical career as a singer and then musical director of Y-Studs A Cappella\, with whom he toured the globe sharing traditional\, liturgical\, Israeli and pop music\, and produced Jewish Holiday parodies and other music videos enjoyed by millions of viewers on YouTube. In 2019\, as a resident of the Rising Song Institute in Mt. Airy\, he studied song-leading with renowned song-leader Joey Weisenberg\, where his eyes were opened to both the breadth of the spiritual Jewish community and his passion for leading song and prayer within it. His time studying in Philadelphia also led him to BZBI\, where he has served as Torah reading coordinator & High Holiday cantorial soloist\, and continues to teach Torah reading to adults in BZBI’s Torah Academy. He is currently pursuing his cantorate at the H. L. Miller Cantorial School at JTS\, and as a studying cantor\, strives to build a Jewish world where everyone is heard and everyone knows that their voice matters. \nTo register for this event\, click here.

We will ask the candidates hard questions about gun violence\, schools\, clean air\, good jobs\, and housing. \nWe’ll have an opportunity to hear from each mayoral candidate in small groups\, and then we’ll come together at the end to debrief and talk about where we go next as an organization to hold the future mayor accountable.
