BZBI, where you belong

Inclement Weather Policy

BZBI Building (Services and Adult Programming)

We are always open for Shabbat services (except in the event of an extraordinary weather event) – whoever can come should come if the sidewalks are clear enough to walk. For a weekday snow fall, listen to school closings on KYW; if the Philadelphia schools are closed, adult programs are also cancelled for that day. Morning minyan is always available, regardless of weather conditions. For evening programs and minyan please call the synagogue (215-735-5148). If the building is open, your call will be answered.

Laurie Wagman Playschool and Abigail R. Cohen Preschool

When the Philadelphia Public Schools are closed for bad weather, the Abigail R. Cohen Preschool and Laurie Wagman Playschool are also closed. Please listen to any radio, television station, or visit the School District of Philadelphia’s homepage during inclement weather to find out if the Philadelphia Public Schools are closed. Should there be a 2-hour delayed the opening of the Philadelphia Public Schools; we will open at 9:00 AM to give our teachers who live outside of the center city time to arrive.

    Neziner Hebrew School

In the event of inclement weather on a weekday, the Neziner Hebrew School follows the decisions made by the School District of Philadelphia.  With regard to Shabbat mornings, we have decided that if there is 4 inches of snow on the ground, then the Neziner Hebrew School will officially be closed. Typically if school is cancelled on a Shabbat morning, the synagogue will still be open, and you are always welcome to join us for services.
